46% of Firms Surveyed Plan to Implement or Evaluate SCRM Technology in Next 12 to 24 Months
AMR Research released the results of an in-depth field study on the state of the supply chain risk management (SCRM) market that found 46% of firms plan to implement or evaluate SCRM technology in the next 12 to 24 months. SCRM has emerged as a critical supply chain management discipline due to the business need for global sourcing strategies, increasingly complex contract manufacturing relationships, and the greater number of natural and political events that can disrupt the supply chain.

Companies that benchmark the performance of their supply chains against other peers in the industry performance typically cut nearly $80m (€62m) within the first year, according to a new report.
“Benchmarking, when used properly, can lead to significant increases in supply-chain efficiency,” said Leonard Sahling, first vice president of research for “Today, the best performers in this area are spending far less on than the median, while their logistics performances are much better than the median. In short, effective benchmarking can provide a huge competitive advantage in the marketplace.”
