Keith Huckle, global chief product steward and risk manager for Dow Corning’s new ventures and advanced materials business sat down with Electronic News/Electronic Business at the Semicon West conference in July to discuss corporate responsibility and product stewardship in the supply chain. What follows are excerpts of that conversation.
Q: What are the biggest issues that Dow Corning sees in materials supply chain?
Huckle: As a chemical supplier, I think the chemical industry, unashamedly, needs to do more to improve how it is perceived. For the past 15 years, the industry has been running a program called “Responsible Care,” which frankly, has been very successful but we’ve been poor at marketing our success. So regulators have not been aware of the successes that have been made by the chemical industry.
