Give Malays Opportunity To Be Involved In “Supply Chain”

Government agencies and companies involved in the agriculture sector were urged to give Malays the opportunity to get involved in the entire aspect of the ‘supply chain’ and not only in the output of the crops.

Institute of Strategic and International Studies Malaysia (ISIS) director-general, Dr Mahani Zainal Abidin, said the agencies and companies like those under Felda and government-linked companies (GLCs) needed to set up a system of suppliers or sub-contractors.

“Malay farmers and new Malays should be involved in all aspects of the value chain such as marketing, logistics, packaging and in the process raise their income from value-added agricultural and agricultural-related activities,” she said at the National Agriculture Convention 2007 here.
