SA supply chains take centre stage


Supply chains are not only a tool to enable the running of an efficient business, in a rapidly globalising market they also represent a clear competitive advantage for companies, industries and countries – something SA is not currently achieving, if the power crisis is anything to go by. It’s clear that we need whatever advantage we can glean from more competitive, flexible and agile global supply chains.

The national supply chain question took centre stage at a prestigious new conference this week when the global Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) launched its South African event. It was the forum for the initial launch of the findings from well-known national research report supplychainforesight, conceptualised and owned by supply chain management major Barloworld Logistics, which has asked over 400 of the country’s senior executives and supply chain decision makers the question: what is the relationship between your company’s supply chain performance and your business success?
